The completed covered community stage at the new Muxara public space, Pemba
In a fast-growing neighbourhood of Pemba, ALPS Resilience has delivered a safe, inclusive place for sport, play and community life, completed and officially inaugurated on 21 September 2026.
Muxara is one of the neighbourhoods on the edge of Pemba that has grown as families displaced by the conflict in northern Cabo Delgado have settled in and around the city, alongside long-standing host residents.
The finished site brings a multi-use sports court, a covered and tiered grandstand, a covered community stage with accessible ramps, solar lighting, paved access and a perimeter wall onto one site.
The Municipal Council of the City of Pemba supported the project throughout and now takes the completed space into public stewardship. It was officially inaugurated by the President of the Municipal Council, H.E. Satar Abdulgani, with the local leadership of the Bairro de Muxara helping guide the project on behalf of residents.
As on ALPS's other projects, the space was built using labour drawn from the neighbourhood itself.
