ALPS meets with peacebuilding team in Port Elizabeth

Responding to news of a potentially emerging situation in Walmer Township, Port Elizabeth, ALPS Deputy Director, Laura Freeman, traveled to Walmer this week to meet with the Eastern Cape Refugee Centre to discuss the situation and possible responses.

Laura met with the Walmer peacebuilding team, who work to resolve conflicts through mediation and conflict resolution mechanisms. She also met with various shop owners to learn more about the issues they face in the area.

Walmer is a site in our USAID-funded People to People Dialogues project. Intervention will be accelerated there with the aim of preventing violence.
