Restoring six boreholes in Chiure

In partnership with Save the Children, ALPS is rehabilitating six Afridev handpump boreholes across Namogelia, Marrere and Halaka in Chiure district. Chiure has absorbed many families displaced from further north in Cabo Delgado, and the a

dded pressure has told on the water points communities depend on.

Each borehole is stripped and repaired, the headworks and drainage rebuilt, then the water disinfected and tested before the point goes back into use. Labour comes from the communities themselves, so the skills to keep the pumps running stay where the pumps are.
