Built to deliver: how ALPS keeps more of the funding on the ground

In places as remote and hard to reach as northern Cabo Delgado, how work gets done matters as much as what gets built. ALPS Resilience keeps as much of that work, and as much of its cost, in the communities and provinces where we operate.

ALPS uses three different drilling rigs, chosen by borehole depth and ground conditions, from a light rig for shallower wells to a heavy tracked machine for the deepest boreholes, together with a high pressure compressor to prepare and develop each hole. Running its own drilling capability means ALPS is not left waiting for scarce outside equipment, and can move on to the next community as soon as a borehole is complete.

The same thinking runs through everything we do. ALPS has built its own operational compound in Palma, so materials and equipment are stored securely on site rather than in costly rented yards. And the large majority of everything ALPS buys is sourced within the provinces where it works, from local vendors and regional suppliers, keeping money and jobs in the communities we serve.

For the funders behind this work, it adds up to something simple: more of the funding reaching the borehole, the classroom and the water tower, and less lost to overheads.
