Final Report: Logistics and Transport Support for Northern Crisis Recovery

ALPS Resilience has published its final report on three years of logistics and transport support to the United Nations Office for Project Services in northern Mozambique, delivered under the Northern Crisis Recovery Project funded by the World Bank.

From 2021 to April 2024, in a province where an active insurgency made reaching communities a security challenge in its own right, ALPS provided the vehicles, drivers and field logistics that enabled UNOPS and its partners to operate where others could not.

The engagement covered seven districts of Cabo Delgado: Macomia, Muidumbe, Quissanga, Palma, Mocimboa da Praia, Chiure and Montepuez. A dedicated fleet of seven vehicles supported around 30,000 kilometres of field movement each month, with drivers certified in first aid, equipped with field communications, and trained to UNOPS safety and conduct standards.

ALPS brought something most international operators could not readily supply: a locally based team with direct knowledge of the security environment, and a fleet already operating in the field. In a province where conditions could change overnight, ALPS provided the continuity that let field operations move, communicate and plan with confidence. The full report is available above.
