Safe Water for Palma

Across Palma District in Cabo Delgado, the water keeps coming.

Working with an energy sector client and with the International Organization for Migration (IOM), ALPS Resilience has delivered 22 solar powered water towers and a wider network of fountains and hand pumps that now reaches more than 100,000 people, with over 30,000 on continuous daily supply. The towers pump, store and distribute water without relying on the district's stretched electricity grid or costly fuel, so the supply keeps running long after the ALPS team has moved on to the next community.

This is an ongoing programme, not a finished one. Our teams are still at work across the district, most recently alongside our IOM partners, and we expect to pass 200 completed water and community infrastructure sites in Palma by the end of the year.

Water is rarely the whole story in places recovering from displacement, but it is very often where recovery begins. No fuel runs, no long walks, just water that keeps flowing, in more communities every month.
