ALPS Resilience has officially launched Phase 4 of the Palma Water Rehabilitation Project, marking another important milestone in expanding access to safe water in northern Mozambique.
This new phase is expected to benefit thousands of families in Palma District through the continued development of critical water infrastructure. Key activities include the construction of 14 elevated water towers, with several already underway, as well as the installation of public water points in priority communities to improve daily access to safe water.
In addition, the project includes the construction of sanitation facilities in five schools, starting with Muti Primary School, contributing to improved hygiene and safer learning environments for students.
A strong emphasis is also being placed on community engagement and sustainability, with the training of local Water Committees — ensuring long-term operation and maintenance of the systems. Notably, this includes active participation of women, recognising their central role in water management at the household and community level.
Implemented in partnership with Rovuma LNG, this phase reinforces ALPS Resilience’s commitment to delivering sustainable WASH solutions that enhance public health, dignity, and community resilience.
As implementation progresses, ALPS will continue to share updates, stories, and field insights highlighting the impact of this work across Palma.
